01/17/2015 15:00

1/17 Sat. 15:00 - 18:00 PM @JAA (=Japanese American Assosiation of NY) 49 West 45th Street, 11th Floor New York, NY 10036

HEIAN conducts its event in 2 parts since 2015.

Various inspiring seminars in Part 1, and Caregivers discussion forum is held in Part 2.

Part 1:My Five Wishes

Participants learned tips to create their own Five Wishes. Even if the participants had already arranged their living will, or Five Wishes, it's strongly recommended periodically for example on birthdays. As things change, the previous setting might not work any more. Before it's too late, let's review it!

Through very active their discussion, we found several concerns and questions. Some of the participants were assigned as the researcher for each concern, and they will share the result among other participants at the next meeting.

Part 2:Caregivers Support Network

This Kick-off meeting showed the participants serious interest to build a small community for them to rely on. As many of them had moved to the U.S. long time ago, and have been living alone in NYC after going through their life episodes. Death is regarded as the final point of caregiving. Therefore, HEIAN would like to continue to create opportunities to learn practical preparation/ help till reach the final point through other caregivers experiences and professionals. Some times life becomes bumpy, but we can overcome by learning something new as a solution each time. Let's learn tips to fill the gap and continue caregiving with smile on our face till the end ! HEIAN wish to connect all caregivers all around the world who share the thought!
